Packing For A Short Weekend Getaway
Sep 26th, 2008 by Savvy Traveler
Going away for the weekend is always fun. From the beginning of the work-week you have something to look forward to - and the anticipation lasts right up until it’s time to… pack!
Maybe I’m alone in this, but I really hate to pack. There’s always a brief moment before any trip when I absolutely dread it. If I didn’t have to make preparations all would be fine. But, we all know it doesn’t work quite that way. I wouldn’t mind it so much if it were the same as packing up to come back home - just throw all your stuff in the bag any which way and you’re ready to go!
So if there are others like me, maybe there’s a great business opportunity here for hotels and resorts. First, they could offer a package of personal items such as toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, hair brush, styling tools, deoderant… you name it. Everything a person needs to start and end the day in health and comfort. For a nominal charge, the hotel could increase its bottom line and take a load of stress off travelers.
And here’s an opportunity for high-end resorts - offer the clothes too! Make it so your guests, for an appropriate charge of course, have a closet full of exactly what they need to wear in their size. Clothiers in the community would love the increased business and it could operate on a rental basis with an option to buy an outfit if the guest really likes it.
I love the idea - just grab your wallet or purse and go! Now back to reality… I need to go pack for this weekend.
